Ibis Update the Ripmo AF and Ripley AF
Updated Ibis Ripley AF and Ripmo AF models launch today with a switch to the UDH hanger standard for ease of replacement and forward compatibility with the new SRAM transmission groupsets. There are also fresh colours on offer, with the Ripley AF now available in Titanium Grey or Plum Purple while the Ripmo switches to Cinnabon Bronze or Espresso Black options. As before they cover a full size range from Small to X-Large.
Both the Ripley and Ripmo AF have always been two of the best value trail bikes out there. Combining well executed aluminium frames with the near legendary DW suspension linkage and great build kits they both deliver a terrific ride for less money than many framesets.
There are three builds to choose from, all offering great value. SRAM GX equipped bikes are just £2799, while Shimano Deore and SLX models are £3099 and £3499 respectively. All use quality suspension, with the Ripley AF featuring a Fox Performance 34 fork and DPS shock, while the Ripmo uses a burlier Marzocchi Z1 and Bomber Air shock. Both also come equipped with Ibis’ excellent Send wheelsets, a real rarity on bikes at this price.
Otherwise it's a case of ‘if it’s not broke, don’t fix it’ with both keeping the excellent angles and suspension design from last year.
The Ripley AF remains the short travel option, combining 120mm rear travel with a 130mm fork and dual 29’ wheels to make a fast, lively and category defying bike that can handle everything from a bikepacking epic to laps of your local technical singletrack. Head angle is a modern 65.5’ and seat angles sit between 76’ and 77’ for comfort across a range of angles.
The Ripmo AF also rolls on 29’ wheels, but at 147mm rear travel paired to a 160mm fork, it’s a bigger bike in every sense. Still a tremendously efficient climber thanks to the DW link suspension, it adds coil shock compatibility and clearance for up to 2.6’ tires to create a bike that can take on any trail you’d like, whether that’s your local woods or a trip to the bikepark.
As usual with Ibis, both come with lifetime warranty on not just the framesets, but also the lower link bushings and Send rims, making sure that Ibis have your back, no matter how hard a life the bike might have.
Both bikes are available now and we’ve Medium and Large Ripmo and Medium Ripley bikes to try for size, so let us know if we can get you on to one of their mega value machines.
