Santa Cruz Launch a new lightweight e-bike - the Heckler SL is here.

Launching today, Santa Cruz’s new Hecker SL bridges the gap between the full suspension mountain bikes and the Heckler and Bullit as their lightweight, mid power e-bike. Nimble and confidence inspiring, it will ride more like your regular Santa Cruz than a traditional full fat e-bike, think of it as your go to trail bike but with added power on the climbs. 

A Fazua Ride 60 drive unit delivers best in class performance with a peak power output of 450W and 60Nm of drag free, silent and natural feeling assistance. Impressively, the 2.3kg 430Wh battery brings similar range to a regular full power e-bike, and with a full charge time of just 3.5hrs lunch time powerups just got way easier. Three power modes can be easily toggled between via the handlebar mounted Ring Control and each mode can be customised in the Fazua app to prioritise either power or range.

Familiar, but specifically tuned geometry gives the Heckler SL a head angle of 64°, 443mm chainstays and reach figures that have been increased by 5mm per size compared to the regular Heckler. A total bike weight of 18.5kg ensures the bike is agile and quick to respond to rider inputs and with 150mm of rear travel and a 160mm fork, there is enough travel to deal with rough enduro trails with ease while still staying lively and engaging across flowing terrain.

Five build kits will be offered to choose from, with SRAM Transmission bringing its smooth shifting under load to the GX AXS RSV, X0 AXS RSV and XX AXS RSV builds. Every build gets a Rockshox Lyrik fork and Maxxis tyres come as standard on all models using the classic DHF / DHR II combination. As with every other Santa Cruz bike, the Heckler SL comes with a lifetime frame, Reserve wheel and frame bearing warranty.

For every Heckler SL sold, Santa Cruz are donating $20 to e-bike battery recycling programmes as well as donating $20 to their Paydirt programme, a fund dedicated to improving trails, and creating better access to them, around the globe. It was the Paydirt fund that regenerated the reservoir climb at the Golfie, vastly improving access to the trails at the top of the hill.

The Heckler SL combines the ride feel of a classic Santa Cruz trail bike with the intuitive and surprisingly powerful assistance from its compact and lightweight Fazua Ride 60 drive unit. Perfect for the Tweed Valley, this lightweight e-Bike lets you open up more riding areas and conquer the steeper climbs without sacrificing anything for the way back down the hill.
