Tweed Valley Bikes welcomes Amflow!
There is quite possibly no brand that has shaken up the mountain bike world more than Amflow bikes in the last decade. Coming apparently out of nowhere in 2024 with their first bike, the lightweight PL, they exploded onto the UK scene with a bike that was both lighter and massively more powerful than any established full fat E-Bike. Within mere months, the Avinox power system had become the defining E-Bike motor, leaving other motor manufacturers scrambling to catch up. Since the initial launch they have continued to rapidly innovate, with both a second generation motor pushing power and torque numbers even higher and new bikes already out in the wild. Avinox motors are now used by countless other brands and the Amflow bikes themselves have gained a loyal following across the country despite the company being only a few years old.

The Avinox M2S Motor System
The heart of the Amflow bikes and for many people, the leading motor system on the market is the Avinox M2S motor. It was the power and torque numbers Avinox motors produce which really made the world sit up and take notice and at a maximum sustained 1200W and 130Nm torque from the M2S (with even more possible in 30 second Boost) it’s not hard to see why.

There’s much more to the system than just raw power however. At just 2.6kg the motor is also one the lighter full power systems, and it’s surprisingly compact, opening up the possibilities for some very slim and lightweight bikes.

The level of integration on offer is also market leading. Pair the system with a SRAM or Shimano wireless derailleur and it can add a load of extra functionality to the mech; coast shifting, auto gear selection based on cadence and chain protection during shifts are all possible. Sync the motor to a heart rate monitor and it will adjust assistance to keep you within a predefined range. Riding a long route or using a DJI camera? You can even use the bike to control your camera and the top tube display to view navigation prompts.
The PR Carbon
The more affordable of the two new bikes, the PR Carbon and PR Carbon Pro models pair the M2S motor with a removable 800W battery. That opens up options for multiple battery days and almost unlimited riding, or charging away from the bike for those who can’t easily bring their bike next to AC power. Despite the weight penalty inherent to removable battery bikes, the frame still manages to sneak just under the 3kg mark, with the full bike also competitively light at just under 23kg with Gravity casing tires fitted.

As much as the Avinox motor often gets most of the press, the bikes themselves actually have a surprising amount of fine detail and innovation packed into them. The original PL had a reputation as being slightly XC biased in stock form, but the new bikes are designed around a completely updated base geometry set, with that geo then able to be user adjusted from three separate points opening up a massive range of possible configurations.

One flip chip on the linkage sets BB height while another on the chainstay allows changes in rear centre length and in both cases, the changes are considerable, with the BB switching between a 10mm and 24mm drop and the chainstay able to be set to either 440mm or 452mm. Last, but not least, the bike also comes with an angle adjust headset allowing riders to go a full degree either way from the stock 64.5’ head angle. All together, that allows the bike to become anything from an upright and comfortable off road tourer, to a properly low, slack and long trail missile.

Rear travel is 150mm, and fork travel is 160mm with the PR using a Fox 36 as the stock option. When it comes to the build kit, if you didn’t know better, then you’d likely imagine a much larger price tag than the real number. There won’t be many carbon E-bikes out there with Fox Performance suspension, Magura brakes and an AXS drivetrain that cost £5399!
The PX Carbon
Sharing the M2S motor, and similar set of geometry numbers the PX carbon is in many ways quite a similar bike to the PR. Where it differs is in the frame construction and battery it uses. Unlike the PR, the PX uses a fully integrated battery allowing Amflow to cut a full half kilo from the naked frame weight, bringing the frameset down to a super light 2.4kg. The integrated battery is also cutting edge, with a 700W capacity while weighing just 3.18kg which is barely more than most 600W systems. Those savings together combine to make for a very light bike indeed, with the Pro version weighing in at an astonishing 20.6kg.

We’ve our first PR in stock now, and PX bikes are coming soon, so come by and have a look at them in person, or get in touch if there’s anything you want to get on order.
