Santa Cruz Launch V10 Gen 8

Santa Cruz Launch V10 Gen 8

Launched today, the Santa Cruz V10 8 is the latest in a long line of race winning machines. Delivering World Cup proven performance, this latest version maintains the iconic silhouette but adds scores of adjustability to allow riders to dial in their bike better than ever before.

Laurie Greenland racing a V10 at World Cup Downhill

Over the years the Santa Cruz V10 has become one of the most successful bikes ever in World Cup Downhill, ridden by a long list of the sports all time greats with legends like Steve Peat and Greg Minnaar piloting generations of the bike to countless wins. Carefully honed on the racetrack, this new V10 has been hiding in plain sight all year with Syndicate riders Jackson Goldstone, Laurie Greenland, Greg Minnaar and Nina Hoffman racing the bike to wins and podiums throughout the 2023 season.

Adjustable headset cups on the V10 8

The headline act for the ‘8’ is its adjustability. Three different adjustment points mean you can fine tune the fit and feel of your V10 and tailor it to suit your riding style or trail, with a huge amount of flexibility built into each bike. Interchangeable headset cups allow reach adjustment of -8mm / 0mm / +8mm to dial sizing. A rear axle flip chip gives -5mm / 0mm / +5mm of adjustment to the size specific chainstay length to fine tune weight balance between the front and rear wheel and a three position lower shock mount flip chip adjusts BB height and head angle, allowing riders to customise stability and cornering behaviour.

V10 8 gives 208mm of rear suspension travel

Refinements to the suspension kinematics give the V10 8 208mm of smooth and progressive rear wheel travel, with increased mid-stroke support designed to simplify the suspension setup process by using a smooth leverage curve throughout the travel.

As with all bikes in Santa Cruz’s range, the V10 benefits from size specific carbon layups, giving a similar frame stiffness and ride feel right across the size range. Following feedback from the Syndicate riders, sizes Small, Medium and Large all roll on an MX wheel configuration, while the XL uses full 29” wheels.

Santa Cruz V10 8 in SRAM X01 build

Two build kits are available, both built around Santa Cruz’s high end CC carbon frame. S spec bikes are built around Fox Performance Elite forks, Fox Performance DHX2 rear shock, SRAM Code Bronze Stealth brakes and a SRAM GX DH 7spd drivetrain. The higher end X01 build uses Fox Factory suspension components, SRAM Code Silver Stealth brakes and a SRAM X01 DH 7spd drivetrain. Both build kits feature the Reserve AL 30|HD alloy wheelset with Industry Nine 1/1 hubs, meaning the new V10 comes with a lifetime on warranty on not only the frame and frame bearings, but also wheelset.

Rear axle adjustability on the new V10

Fully sleeved internally routed cabling and easily accessible frame pivot bolts simplify pre-race run mechanical checks and make it easy for privateer racers and home mechanics to keep everything running smoothly. Topped off with the high quality fit and finish that Santa Cruz are known for, the V10 will keep performing lap after lap.
